Reducing CO2 emissions with industrial insulation: how to do this?

Insulating Blanket For Industrial Piping

The insulation systems used in the field of industrial insulation are effective in reducing CO2 emissions.

Carbon dioxide, released in the atmosphere in large quantities, is indeed the main cause of climate change.

Unfortunately, nowadays we are seeing the effects..

Reducing CO2 emissions: the breakthrough of industrial insulation

There have been several initiatives adopted to reduce greenhouse gas emmissions over time.

In the International political sphere -the Kyoto Protocol, the Paris Agreement, Teknovis3 the COP21 – and in the technological one as well : with projects for energy efficiency and savings, aiming to renewable and circular economy.

In the industrial context, however, the most effective breakthrough is represented by insulation systems.

Since they guarantee the same production rates in a more sustainable way: less heat loss allows the system to save fuel to maintain constant operating temperatures, saving energy and reducing emissions.

Reducing CO2 emissions with industrial insulation: companies come first!

It is not simply a matter of having a clear conscience or a mere ecological sensitivity; reducing CO2 emissions is also economically advantageous for businesses.

The debate on climate change is taken to heart by people; in the collective imagination, it is the industries that are primarily responsible for releasing carbon dioxide.

What’s more? Thermal insulation systems ensure significant energy savings, which means more money to be invested profitably for the company.

Furthermore, should not be underestimated that if a careful consumer finds out that a company uses insulation systems to preserve the health of the planet, he will be more inclined to make business with it instead of another.

The effects of insulation have long been known!

Regarding sustainability, the benefits of industrial insulation are to known for a long time, and it has been trusted from earliest time.

A 2012 study published by Ecofys focused on the potential of these thermal insulation systems.

The estimated a surve of 49 million tonnes of greenhouse gases and 620 PJ in fuel consumption.

The survey indicated a saving as the energy consumption of 10 of private homes.

An energy recovery was predicted in the research; the scientific director defined a great business opportunity, the recovery of the same investments within a year.

Furthermore it was discussed about 10% of the equipment of industrial plants not insulated or isolated with obsolete systems

It was the result of poor investments in the field of industrial insulation.

Given the rising price of fossil fuels, however – which was indeed an effective problem – we hoped for a more virtuous investment, in the years to come, on insulating products.

Reducing CO2 emissions: progress in energy efficiency

Thanks to industrial insulation and other energy efficiency systems, indeed the amount of total CO2 emissions has seen a significant reduction over the years.

Over the period from 1990 to 2019, the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research attests to this decrease to a percentage of 19%. with data relating to several companies in the production chain

The industrial insulation

Teknovis3 records equally encouraging data on the use of its insulating products: thermal bearings for hot and cold cycles, insulating tapes for pipes and insulating mats for pumps, valves and filters.

By reducing heat loss through Teknovis3 insulation, we can monitor a reduction of 1020 tons of emissions for year by using our GAIA device (case of a Teknovis3 customer from the food industry).

Reducing CO2 emissions with industrial insulation: what to pay attention to?

The reduction of CO2 emissions with manufactured products of industrial insulation is a delicate issue and we can not think of getting it just with the installation.

To achieve the desired results, it is necessary to guarantee professionalism throughout the life cycle of the insulating device.

A goal that Teknovis3 realizes using three tools:

  • TEK-SEM Method: installation of the insulating product with specific analysis of the industrial environment and mapping of each corner to be insulated.
  • Tracking and constantly monitoring the results with the piattaforma Gaia.
  • TeknoCode: convenient and immediate maintenance of the elements with a unique code assigned to the product and linked, if required, to a WebApp.
